May 28 Two chefs with restaurants in Coral Gables will be battling against each other during the latest Battle of the Chefs competition. This night, Chef Willy Hernandez of Caramelo Restaurant faces Chef Marc Vidal of Por Fin Restaurant & Lounge The event takes place at La Cuisine Gourmet, 50 Aragon Avenue, at 7 p.m. The chefs will be handed a bag of mystery ingredients and instructed to create three dishes with those ingredients in 45 minutes. At Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden you can smell the flowers and eat the food! The garden is offering a Cooking Class no matter the skill level. Learn how to make Chef Rudy Straker’s vegetarian paella. The Chef will also teach how to prepare two appetizers and sample homemade sangria. May 31 The world’s most famous freestyle artists gather for the largest freestyle event to ever take place in Florida and it is happening in Coral Gables. “The World Takes” presents Freestyle Invasion Live at the BankUnited Center located on the University of Miami campus, 1245 Dauer Drive. June 1 The Miami City Ballet Dancers will be performing for the Sunday Afternoons of Music for Children. The interactive performance features professional dancers guiding the young audience through the journey of preparing a ballet, rehearsing and finally the polished performance. June 7 The Miami Chapter of the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis is hosting the first annual Microbrews Block Party presented by Houston’s. The event takes place from 6 – 10 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Ponce de Leon Boulevard from Miracle Mile to Aragon Avenue. Tickets cost $50.
