May 29 Sample food from Coral Gables’ finest restaurants during Taste of the Gables. This event is a one of a kind opportunity to see taste all of the wonderful food being offered at restaurants participating the Coral Gables Restaurant Week. The samplings are free. Participate in the Coral Gables branch Library’s Toddler Storytime. June 4 Coral Gables Congregational Church opens its 2009 Summer Concert Series with a sextet of players from the Arturo O’Farrill Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. A pianist/composer, O’Farrill is an acclaimed winner of the Latin Jazz USA Outstanding Achievement Award. The performance takes place at Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 De Soto Boulevard, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $40 for reserved seating within the first five to eight rows, or $25 for general seating. June 6 – 7 The Tropical Fern and Exotic Plant Show and Sale will showcase many beautiful specimens of a great variety of tropical plants including one of the earth's oldest residents, the fern.
