Seniors with busy schedules get together for dinner. "Let's Do Dinner!" is a special program for seniors 55+ to make friends and enjoy a great meal together. Participants meet at select restaurants aalling Anastasia Smith at 305-460-5609.

Books & Books will host former first lady Laura Bush as she discusses and signs copies of her new book “Spoken from the Heart.” The book is a candid look into her life, from her early years of marriage to life at the White House. Meet Laura Bush at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Avenue, at 1 p.m. Tickets are required. For more information, call 305-442-4408.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens presents the South Florida Cactus and Succulent Society Show and Sale. The show and sale will bring together experts and enthusiasts alike to display, discuss and sell the most drought tolerant plants of all. With water conservation becoming a global issue, there has never been a better time to invest in cacti or succulent. Fairchild Garden is located at 10901 Old Cutler Road and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission costs $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for children ages 6 - 17. The Actors' Playhouse Theatre for Young Audiences presents Young King Arthur. The play created for children takes shows King Arthur as a child who soon discovers that with power come responsibilities and troubles, especially from his jealous brother Sir Kay and the evil knight Sir Ridley. With the help of Merlin the Magician and an outspoken peasant girl named Brynith, Young King Arthur discovers that real power comes not from swashbuckling and sorcery, but from the heart. The City's Senior Services Division is offering seniors computer classes. Computer II is designed for individuals who already know the basics of computers. You will learn to customize the taskbar, in-depth Internet tools, adding a printer, loading software and more. Classes are held Tuesdays at the War Memorial Youth Center, 405 University Drive, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. the fee is $60. For more information, call 305-460-5609.

Learn the ancient art of Chinese Brush Painting taught by new volunteer Dorothy Cheng. Class meets Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 113 at the Adult Activity Center, 624 Anastasia Avenue. The fee for the session is $12. For more information, call 305-460-5609.

June 3

The Coral Gables Congregational Church presents the 2010 Summer Concert Series. Starting the season off is the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter. The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. The concert takes place at Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 De Soto Boulevard, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for general seating or $40 for seating within the first eight rows. June 4

The Business Improvement District is kicking off its Restaurant Week with the event Taste of the Gables. Over 20 participating Coral Gables restaurants will offer tastings of their dishes. The event will take place on Aragon Avenue between Galiano Street and Merrick Way from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets purchased in advance costs $10. For more information, call 305-569-0311.

June 5 – 6

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden presents the Tropical Fern and Exotic Plant Society Show and Sale. The event will showcase many beautiful specimens of a great variety of tropical plants including one of the earth's oldest residents, the fern. Ferns fit well in with South Florida's tropical look and there are many species that do well in our climate. The show and sale takes place in the Garden House and Loggia at Fairchild Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road. Admission costs $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for children ages 6 – 17. The Actors' Playhouse presents a new play Unreasonable Doubt, a dramatic story full of insight and compassion that takes an in-depth look at American justice and how it sometimes fails the society it's meant to protect. Performances take place Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets for weeknights and matinees are $42, and on Friday and Saturday evenings $50. The theatre offers a 10 percent senior discount rate the day of performance and $15 student rush tickets 15 minutes prior to curtain with identification. Sunday Afternoons of Music for Children concludes its 24th anniversary season with Dance, Dance & More by the Miami City Ballet Dancers. Deanna Seay, principal dancer and dancers from the Miami City Ballet delight everyone with a musical journey of preparing, rehearsing and performing a ballet. Beautiful music, beautiful costumes and more, ensure an enchanting afternoon.The performance takes place at the Maurice Gusman Concert Hall, 1314 Miller Drive. June 7

The Adult Activity Center's Book Club meets again to discuss what book they will read next. Those wanting to participate can gather in Room 112 at the senior center, 624 Anastasia Avenue, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Volunteer leader Sandy Lysinger will lead the discussion.

June 8

The Senior Services Division is hitting the road and taking seniors on several trips to explore South Florida with a program called Let's See South Florida. The group will visit the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne. The trip costs $15. The deadline to register is June 1. For more information, call 305-460-5609.

The Greater Miami Symphonic Band will hold their last performance of the season fittingly titled, 31st Season Grand Finale. The concert take place at the Maurice Gusman Concert Hall at the University of Miami, 1314 Miller Drive, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.
